Correspondence with Alma Mahler, 1954-ca. 1955.

An exchange concerning various matters pertaining to the work of Gustav Mahler, occasioned by Ratz's writing of the entry on Mahler for the German encyclopaedia Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart ed. Friedrich Blume. Alma Mahler's response was apparently drafted by her friend F. Charles Adler; see related correspondence under: Adler, F. Charles (Frederick Charles), 1889-1959. Included is an offprint of an essay by Ratz, "Gustav Mahler," published in Neue Zeitschrift für Musik (Dec. 1955), bearing what appears to be a partial draft letter, in Alma Mahler's hand, concerning Gustav Mahler's work and possibly addressed to Ratz. For other correspondence from Ratz, see under correspondent: Internationale Gustav Mahler Gesellschaft.
